Currently, I maintain the position of Infection Preventionist at CHI St. Luke’s Heatlth Brazosport. I am responsible for implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the infection prevention and control plan across the hospital. I ensure that it follows all regulations and requirements with the governing bodies such as CMS and TJC. Staff and physicians are provided communication on communicable diseases and educated on emerging issues. Participate in LEAN and other Integrated Work Plan projects. Provide guidance to all quality improvement committees. Delivered Results: Greater than 1 year CAUTI free related to CAUTI EBP and bundle initiatives. Implemented nurse driven protocol for foley catheter removal to decrease foley catheter days. Improved documentation and introduced alternative devices to avoid use of indwelling catheters. CHI St. Luke’s Health has remained free of CLABSI for more than 4 years. Success with ZERO CLABSI events is evidence of our work with EBP bundle initiatives, auditing, documentation improvements and ensuring appropriate insertion indications. I have worked tirelessly with interdisciplinary teams to implement EBP, bundles, documentation, indications for test, and education for CDIFF. HAI CDIFF has decreased by almost 90% in 2020 as a direct result of these efforts.
